Former Cisco Australia head of businesss and market innovation, Ian Ross, has left the networking vendor to join IT solutions and managed services provider, Logicalis Australia, as strategic solutions director.
Ross jumped ships as it was an opportunity to takes his career further. Additionally, he was attracted by Logicalis’ breadth of capability as it draws across networking, unified communications, datacentres, and virtualisation.
“I have been involved in business development and innovation for a significant amount of time at Cisco, and was looking at how to achieve greater progress within the market,” Ross said. “I had a conversation with Logicalis CEO, Chris Meager, and he outlined what was going on at the company, and it appeared like the place to be.”
As the head for growth in his new role, Ross is responsible for the strategic evolution and transformation of Logicalis’ portfolio in Australia, ensuring that is aligns to emerging customer business issues both inside and outside of IT.
His immediate goals are to implement an Innovation Program - which is a broad-based program that draws various inputs from the market to understand its pain points, what customers’ strategic objectives are and what they are trying to achieve – and to compose a roadmap for the next 18 to 24 months.
“At the moment, it is about engaging with our customers and the market, and seeing where their business is going and finding solutions for those goals,” he said.
Additionally, following the recent launch of Logicalis’ BYOD solutions, Ross said that there is a lot of work to be done in embedding them with customers.
He believes that another challenge will be prioritising, and finding the highest impact solution sets that Logicalis can bring to market.
