Internode managing director, Simon Hackett, will be leaving his executive role with the company to join the iiNet board in August.
iiNet acquired the South Australia-based ISP in December last year for $105 million. The integration of the two ISPs has been progressing faster than expected, prompting Hackett’s decision to join iiNet to work more closely with the company.
“While I will continue to represent Internode as I always have, I am keen to contribute at a group level, influencing the strategy of the entire iiNet group,” he said in a statement.
iiNet intends to keep the Internode brand.
"There are no plans to remove the Internode brand," Hackett said. "... Its a well known and much loved brand and its not going away."
Internode CTO, John Lindsay, recently took up the same role in iiNet and now works for both companies. Internode general manger of business and government, Daryl Knight will move to iiNet in a similar capacity, reporting to iiNet Business CEO, Greg Bader.
Internode’s games.on.net was recently absorbed into iiNet’s 3GL gaming network. Internode staffer, Heidi Angove, was appointed to head up the combined network.
Internode CEO, Patrick Tapper, has decided to leave the company to move to Queensland. He has been with the ISP for 14 years.
