Google will supposedly be launching a new model of its Nexus 7 tablet with 3G mobile connectivity.
According to Modaco, the Nexus 7 3G is coming this year. It will be identical to the current Nexus 7 tablet but with an additional chip for mobile broadband access. See also: is the Nexus 7 a good deal?
Asus, the firm which partnered with Google to make the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean tablet is apparently ramping up production for a launch in about six weeks' time. This would place the release in mid-October but exact launch dates and territories are still to be confirmed.
The Nexus 7 is an excellent but the lack of 3G was mentioned in many a review, including ours, and by owners. So, it would certainly get the approval of many if the Nexus 7 3G does eventually tip up.
We hope it does, but for now we'll have to trust the information from a 'very well placed insider'. In the meantime, it is suggested that Apple will launch a rival iPad Mini on 12 September along with the iPhone 5.
