PC manufacturer, Acer, has extended its existing five-year partnership with Foxtel by signing a new four-year agreement to become the sole managed services provider for the combined Foxtel and Austar operations in Australia.
As part of the agreement, Acer’s Managed Solutions Group will provide Foxtel with quality assurance, repair, refurbishment, and warehousing services that it has developed and adapted from its PC operations experience and applied to Foxtel’s business requirements.
Acer is charged with adhering to strict key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure a guaranteed level of service is delivered across all elements of the services. All new set-top-boxes will be put through rigorous batch quality testing before being released for public distribution.
According to Acer, by consolidating all aspects of its set-top-box business with the vendor rather than outsourcing, the deal both lowers Foxtel’s operations cost and increases efficiency and service quality.
Acer has more than 140 personnel deployed in supporting the services.
In the future, Acer will leverage its managed services processes and methodologies even further by adapting them and expanding its business into other service areas.
