Samsung's army of Android phones just got a new recruit with the Galaxy S4 Mini, a watered-down version of its bigger, badder brother. The mid-range Mini doesn't depart from Samsung's tradition of milking its flagships with variations on the same theme--but that doesn't mean the S4 Mini is not a capable phone.
While the pricing, availability, and carrier support are all yet unknown, the specs of the Galaxy S4 Mini stack up quite well against its mid-range competition, and even against more expensive hero-type handsets from other manufacturers.
With a 4.3-inch display, the S4 Mini is still larger than the iPhone 5--albeit with a lower-resolution screen--and the specs inside are ahead of a bunch of phones that are available right now.
Here's how the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini stacks up against its rivals in the US, presented in handy-dandy chart form.
