Mindjet and Spigit merge

Spigit will fold into Mindjet in a merger of the two leading idea generation software companies

Virtual project-based collaboration firms Mindjet and Spigit have merged and will combine their idea generation platforms.

Spigit, which was founded in 1995 and now has about 100 staff, will be folded into the San Franciso-based Mindjet with chief executive Scott Raskin set to take the helm.

Spigit chief executive, Paul Pluschkell, will become Mindjet’s chief innovation officer.

Spigit staff will join the team of 300 at Mindjet which is used by 83 per cent of Fortune 100 companies and over two million users, to brainstorm and plan on virtual whiteboards, create and co-edit plans, share files, and keep everyone on the same page with real-time task and project management.

Spigit provides platforms for large companies to solicit ideas from the crowd and make company decisions based on mathematical analysis of input.

In 2012, Inc. Magazine listed Spigit as the fastest growing private software company in California and it has continued to build upon its momentum in 2013 with record revenue growth.

IDC analyst, Vanessa Thompson, said social business solutions should provide the ability to capture insight, intelligently filter information and deliver it into action in the business.

“The merger of Mindjet and Spigit brings together the core elements that drive business value from social solutions; process, structure, business context and relevance."

Raskin said the merger introduced the first enterprise software to deliver a repeatable process from driving innovation.

“From idea generation, through opportunity selection, through project execution,” he said. “Mindjet will help customers not only to develop a pipeline of transformative ideas but also to commercialise them and take them to market.”

Pluschkell said the merger would set a new competitive standard, redefining the innovation process, from idea creation to project completion, ensuring that our customer’s greatest ideas become their greatest successes.”
