SingTel Group have partnered with Samsung in a strategic relationship to drive next generation mobile communication, infotainment and technology services in Asia-Pacific region.
The deal will look to take advantage of the scale of the SingTel Group and Samsung’s devices and services.
Under this partnership, both parties will offer applications and digital services to customers of SingTel Group companies, including Advanced Info Service (Thailand), Airtel, Globe Telecom (Philippines), Optus (Australia), SingTel (Singapore) and Telkomsel (Indonesia).
It will also allow the two companies to leverage each others’ distribution channels to extend their retail reach.
It is hoped SingTel’s mobile network customers combined with Samsung’s handset experience will grow the 3G and 4G customer base in each market and also enhance the experience of mobile customers and broaden their access to intelligent networks.
SingTel chief executive international, consumer, Mark Chong said the two companies would combine to deliver an exciting mobile experience for customers through brilliant mobile and innovative devices.
“Not only will our companies mutually benefit, but our combined 400 million mobile customers will be able to take advantage of the unique offerings that will be provided in the future,” he said.
Samsung Electronics president, sales and marketing, DJ Lee said in order to introduce Samsung’s next generation mobile communications the company needed to continue to fully support and work closely with leading mobile operators.
The SingTel Group and Samsung partnership will commence this month with joint projects beginning from the fourth quarter this year.
