Australia’s biggest online retailer Kogan is attempting to hijack Click Frenzy redux by going live 12 hours ahead of the official event.
Click Frenzy, the one-day online sale involving more than 300 retailers, saw its website dramatically crash before the sale even began in November last year.
This year, Click Frenzy has enlisted Amazon Web Services to host the sale and is expecting 1.5 to 2 million shoppers over the 24-hour period, starting at 7pm tonight.
But Australian e-tailer Ruslan Kogan has now launched a last minute bid to cash in on the phenomenon by promising deals on hundreds of tablets, smartphones, TVs, gadgets and home appliances.
Kogan launched its sale at 7am AEST, but it is not listed among the raft of retailers and e-tailers taking part in the event in the official event.
Last year participating retailers experienced sales volumes 2.5 times greater than their previous biggest sales days.
Kogan said more Christmas gifts than ever before would be bought online this year.
“We’re seeing huge rises in shoppers looking for the best deals on headphones, coffee machines, smartphones, tablets, and TVs,” he said.
“While we’re glad to see other retailers waking up to the fact that Australians want a great deal online, shoppers shouldn’t have to wait for a small window of a few hours for the best deals.

More than 300 retailers offering over 500 brands are participating in Click Frenzy including Adidas, Big W, Bonds, Bookworld, Chemist Warehouse, Dan Murphy’s, House, Myer, Peter Alexander, The Good Guys, Toys R Us, and Woolworths.
