Unified communication and collaboration (UC&C) vendor, Polycom, has named Peter Leav to lead the company as its new president and chief executive officer (CEO).
Leav will be based in the company's Silicon Valley headquarters and will also serve as a director on the company’s board.
He takes over from interim CEO, Kevin Parker, who will continue serving as chairman of the Polcyom board. The two are currently working on a transition plan.
“Peter’s strong background in operations, general management and sales, spanning a successful 20 plus-year career in communications, technology and services, and his energy and passion are strong assets to take Polycom to the next level,” Parker said.
Leav previously worked at NCR as president of its industry and field operations business for one and a half years, during which time he lead around 8000 employees across 120 countries. He was in charge of global go-to-market efforts, including the NCR Global Sales organisation’s direct and indirect sales channels, professional services, and industry lines of business.
He first joined NCR in January 2009 as senior-vice president, and was promoted to executive vice-president in October 2011. During his tenure, revenues grew from $US4.6 billion in 2009 to $US5.7bn in 2012.
Leav’s career has also seen him at Motorola Solutions, Symbol Technologies (which was acquired by Motorola) and Cisco Systems.
