The renewed focus on international mobile roaming - from a regulatory perspective - has put the spotlight on local carriers, according to Truphone.
Alex Blinko, managing director of the mobile network company, has seen this issue evolve in other parts of the world, specifically in Europe where the introduction of roaming caps changed the mobile landscape.
This renewed focus is expected to make Australian carriers rethink about their approach to mobile roaming.
“It’s good to see some developments in the local market to address the roaming issue, but there is still a disparity between Australia and other parts of the world,” Blinko said.
Narrowing the gap
Blinko said the reducing the gap between domestic and global mobile pricing will be driven by expansion of business globally, as well as from regulatory forces.
“Then there is the increasing dependency on technology, including the exponential growth of smart device adoption and the influence of devices in everyday life,” he said.
Blinko also expects the Cloud to evolve in the coming months to become a mainstream policy, while mobile device management will remain a continued focus for businesses.
