ZettaGrid gets exclusivity for Veeam’s CloudConnect

Local hosting company to use early access as a way to get a head-start.

Hosting company, ZettaGrid, has been selected by Veeam as the exclusive CloudConnect partner for Australia.

CloudConnect is the remote backup component of Veeam’s upcoming Availability Suite v8, and ZettaGrid will have exclusivity to it for 60 days.

Pre-sales manager and architecture team lead, Luke Brown, said the deal with Veeam means the hosting company will be the only one to offer Veeam's Cloud backup tool.

“It is fantastic for us, as it is another market for us we haven’t been able to get into,” he said.

“We’re focusing solely on the Cloud market where we kind of live, but there is a lot of on-premise environments we don’t have a lot of reach into.”

With CloudConnect, Brown said ZettaGrid will be able to reach into those markets and demonstrate with the product how a backup repository by ZettaGrid can be managed.

“When customers are ready to make their step into the Cloud with certain applications, then they’re will come to us first because we have hopefully proven how good we are through CloudConnect,” he said.

The exclusivity period is only for 60 days, and Brown said that time will be used to entice as many customers as possible before other players come into the market.

“We have been using the beta of the product for some time now, so hopefully we’re a fair way ahead of the market as far as the maturity of our offering with CloudConnect,” he said.

Recognised locally

As for why ZettaGrid was selected as the exclusive partner for CloudConnect, Brown said the company has been a long-time user of Availability Suite v7, making it one of Veeam’s stronger partners in Australia.

“We’ve shown we haven’t needed much handholding, and we’ve been able to put forth our ideas and see them come in through the next iterations of the product,” he said.

Brown said some of the features in Availability Suite v8 have been implemented following requests from ZettaGrid’s development team for certain additions or changes to API calls.

“Hopefully we’ve shown ourselves to be a good partner for Veeam as well, and why they have given us a tap on the shoulder to allow us to be their exclusive partner,” he said.

For a small Australian company such as ZettaGrid, Brown said it was exciting be acknowledged by Veeam in this way.

“We caught their attention for how easily we’ve been able to adapt to changing situations, as well as the ever changing local Cloud market,” he said.
