Kloud buys 50 per cent stake in ICE Systems

Moves to accelerate growth in devops and Cloud automation

Melbourne-based Kloud Solutions has purchased a 50 percent stake in Cloud dev-ops and automation consulting firm ICE Systems.

The move is designed to accelerate Kloud’s growth in the dev-ops and Cloud automation market. According to a company statement, the deal will support its expansion in the enterprise market and will help both companies strengthen their offerings.

Kloud managing director, Nicki Bowers, said the company was hungry for acquisitions.

“We’ve been a main player in the Cloud migration space for a few years, now we really want to focus our efforts on companies that will help us grow organically.”

Kloud has experienced phenomenal growth in the past four years, achieving 273 per cent average growth in that time.

The purchase of the 50 per cent stake in ICE will result in Kloud’s shared-ownership of the Sydney-based IT consulting firm.

Bowers said Kloud will use the investment to broaden its offerings to the enterprise market where there has been a surge in demand for cloud automation and dev-ops practices that are enabling organisations to be more agile.

“We have seen examples of excellent work carried out in past years by the team from ICE and are confident their commitment and dedication to promote leading edge dev-op and Cloud automation opportunities will help both of us to develop lasting and profitable relationship,” said Bowers.

Both companies will continue to operate as individual brands but will share resources to provide end-to-end platform agnostic cloud services to corporate and public organisations across Australia.

Bowers said the investment is part of a joint-strategy to provide platform agnostic Cloud services to organisations in Australia.

“Kloud has very strong skills in the Microsoft platform. ICE is a leading player in the dev-ops and Cloud automation space, offering services on Linux and open source based platforms. The majority of our client base have hybrid IT platforms, and through this partnership, we are able to provide end-to-end services”

ICE managing director, Duncan Journee, said the investment shows that Kloud is taking its continued growth in dev-ops and Cloud automation very seriously.

“IT organisations today are challenged how to become more agile and responsive to the business, while maintaining the stability of their infrastructure. Dev-ops practices, such as continuous delivery are proven to increase both agility and reliability and are driving accelerated adoption of these new practices," he said.

“The Kloud partnership provides a great opportunity to continue to build up expertise in the dev-ops and Cloud automation domain and to expand our services to Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide."

Both companies will continue to operate as individual brands but will share resources to provide services to domestic organisations.
