Cisco to raise Australian prices by 12 per cent

Westcon advises customers on how to beat the deadline

Cisco is preparing to increase it's prices on its products and services - largely in response to global currency changes.

The company has announced a 12 per cent price increase on all Cisco products and services effective Saturday, March 14, 2015.

A Cisco spokesperson told ARN the vendor periodically reviewed the pricing of its products and services.

"As the result of a recent review the company has notified its Australian customers, partners and distributors of a 12 per cent increase in the list price of all SKUs from 14 March 2015," a spokesperson said.

"A number of factors were taken into consideration, including changes in currency exchange rates.”

The Australian dollar was $US0.89 this time last year and was $US0.78 at the time of writing.

Westcon Group director of vendor alliances, Phil Cameron, said the group was supportive of Cisco's response to market conditions as part of their periodic review.

"It's an opportunity for partners to bring forward ordering and take advantage of today's pricing."

Cisco distributor, Westcon, has advised customers that purchase orders must be received before 8pm AEDT, March 11.

"Remembering that Deal ID amendments or configuration issues will need to be finalised before the cut-off times so that we can honour the pricing available today," according to a company statement.

"Any unresolved order issues or amendments may impact your access to the cheaper pricing and could result in a rejection of your order. Although orders received after this time will receive best efforts.

"Westcon Group strongly advises that any intention to procure Cisco product and services should be ordered as soon as possible to ensure that the order is cleanly processed before the Cisco cut off."
