Datacentre-as-a-Service provider NEXTDC has released a vendor independent Cloud platform for datacentre intelligence.
ONEDC, which is a Software-as-a-Service platform for the unified management of datacentre assets and infrastructure, is now in beta availability.
The initiative will see the company's propriety datacentre management portal, ONEDC, evolve into a feature-rich datacentre infrastructure management platform that can be adapted to connect any device in any datacentre environment.
This will enable end users to manage their datacentre assets across multiple locations through a single pane of glass.
NEXTDC’s group executive, technology, David Dzienciol, said ONEDC was specifically designed to provide an in-depth view of datacentre assets and operations for technology managers and CFOs.
“These qualities make ONEDC a crucial component to every organisation’s datacentre strategy, particularly those organisations with data in multiple facilities, even those with a global footprint, by centralising intelligence to improve asset management and capacity planning, and respond to changing business needs with greater speed and accuracy,” he said.
It will be generally available in Q3 2015 as a monthly subscription service.
The base subscription for ONEDC includes telemetry capabilities for power monitoring, access management (including remote rack unlocking) and environmental monitoring (temperature and humidity).
This mirrors the functionality of the ONEDC currently used by NEXTDC co-location customers.
Advanced modules will be available, offering a suite of powerful DCIM capabilities including infrastructure visualisation and management, connectivity tracking, predictable planning and alerts and notifications.
Dzienciol said the solution went beyond the current definition of DCIM products, "which are historically hardware and vendor-focused, to fulfill an immediate need that works with existing systems."
Prior to the general availability of the new advanced modules for DCIM, NEXTDC is running an exclusive invite-only 90-day Beta trial of the infrastructure visualisation and management, and connectivity tracking modules. wherever they are deployed.
