Microsoft partners Dropbox on new integration

Allows edits in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents in Dropbox

Dropbox and Microsoft have partnered on a new integration that allows users to edit their Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents in Dropbox using Office Online.

This means that users don’t need the desktop versions of Microsoft Office, and can even use a computer that isn’t their own to edit their Office docs in Dropbox.

It builds on the Dropbox and Microsoft strategic partnership announced last November.

Users can now also open and edit Office documents on iOS and Android devices, and officially use Dropbox on Windows Phones and tablets.

Microsoft claims 35 billion Office documents are stored in Dropbox, and the partnership will allow seamless interaction across phones, tablets, and the web.

It follows Microsoft integrations already released for iOS and Android, as well as the Dropbox apps for Windows Phones and tablets.

Dropbox for Business customers with an Office 365 license and Dropbox Basic and Pro users can start using this integration today.
