JB Hi-Fi non-executive director, James King, retires
JB Hi-Fi (ASX:JBH) non-executive director, James King, will be stepping down from his position and retiring following the company’s annual general meeting on October 29.
King joined the board in May 2004 and was chairman of the company between May 2006 and September 2007. JB Hi-Fi chairman, Greg Richards, claimed King made a significant contribution to the company.
“His experience, expertise and advice have been of great value to the business as it has gone from strength to strength over the past 11 years. On behalf of the board, I thank him for his valuable service to the company over a long period,” Richards said.
Former Just Group operations director and sleepwear business, Peter Alexander CEO, Wai Tang, will replace King in the role. She will take on the position at JB Hi-Fi from September 14. It has appointed Tang to the board as an additional appointee ahead of the annual general meeting and she will stand for election then.
Richards said Tang’s extensive experience in managing retail businesses and in supply chain and operations management will be of benefit to JB Hi-Fi. Prior to joining Just Group, she was general manager of business development for Pacific Brands.
Tang was also the founder of the Happy Lab gourmet confectionary business and is currently a non-executive director of Federation Centres, Kikki Kand the Melbourne Festival. Her past board positions include non-executive directorships with Specialty Fashion Group and The Melbourne Fashion Festival.
“Wai brings a wealth of retail industry experience at both a senior executive and board level,and we look forward to working with her,” Richards added.
