Security vendor, Symantec, has made its Norton Security Premium solution available in A/NZ. According to the company, the solution was created to streamline multiple core offerings into one flagship subscription service.

The new service is an advanced, multi-layered protection solution that helps shield consumers from sophisticated and evolving threats across all platforms. Norton Security Premium is also available with secure PC Cloud back-up.

Symantec Norton Business Unit Pacific region director, Mark Gorrie, said our digital lives are central to the way we connect, interact and transact and the changes the company has made to Norton are designed to keep people one step ahead of cybercriminals and help keep information safe without sacrificing the performance of smartphones, tablets or laptops.

“We live in a world where cybercriminals are working overtime trying to find new ways to steal personal information. At Norton, we want to give people confidence - whether they’re sharing photos online or shopping from a smartphone - that Norton Security Premium is working behind the scenes to keep their information and their devices protected,” he said.

Gorrie also attributed a recent Symantec Internet security threat report, which found that there were nearly one million new threats released each day and crypto-ransomware threats have increased by more than 4000 per cent in 2014.

“It’s increasingly important for consumers to take steps to protect themselves in this highly complex and connected world, no matter what device they are using. Norton Security Premium aims to deliver a seamless, easy-to-use service that takes advantage of Symantec technologies and intelligence to protect consumers from today’s advanced threats.”

Norton Security Premium is offered as a one, two, three, five and 10 device options. It can be purchased through major retailers and online. It is priced between $59.95 for a one device, 12 months option and $199.85 for a 10 devices 12 months option.

Symantec has also signed a sponsorship deal with 49ers NFL newcomer, Jarryd Hayne, to raise awareness about cyberbullying and educate consumers about online crime.

As Norton’s online security ambassador, Hayne presented $123,000 to Australian depression and anxiety initiative, beyondblue. The funds will be used to strengthen and build on beyondblue’s cyberbullying resources, and point parents and young people towards information and support about how to identify and respond to cyberbullying.

Norton by Symantec has partnered with beyondblue since 2013 and throughout the partnership has donated about $700,000 to raise awareness and address cyberbullying in the community.

“beyondblue’s work is increasingly being carried out in the digital world which makes our partnership with Norton more important than ever. This donation will help people to find beyondblue information about what to do if they feel threatened online and how to support their mental health,” beyondblue CEO Georgie Harman said.
