Brocade offers new mobile operator visibility infrastructure

Aims to transition visibility infrastructures to software-enabled, open and disaggregated architecture

Data and storage networking company, Brocade, has launched new network visibility solutions and a partner ecosystem.

The new solutions aim to empower mobile network operators with insights into the traffic within their networks, while also transitioning visibility structures from being closed and monolithic, to software-enabled, open and disaggregated.

The Brocade Network Visibility product portfolio includes Brocade MLXe Packet Brokers and Brocade ICX Packet Brokers that look to address density, performance and programmability needs of Tier-1 mobile operators.

The portfolio also includes the Brocade Virtual Packet Broker, a virtual TAP/packet broker designed for vEPC environments, and the software-based, Brocade Session Director, which is designed for separation of mobile control flow processing in the visibility network. It looks to deliver scalability and real-time programmability of packet brokers.

The Brocade Packet Probes are also included and according to Brocade, are scalable and have wire-speed packet processing engines that decode and reduce mobile bearer and control traffic to extract and deliver essential metadata required by network monitoring and analytics solutions.

Additionally within the portfolio, is the Brocade Visibility Manager and open APIs between Brocade and third-party components. Brocade said this can help ensure freedom of choice at each layer of the visibility infrastructure.

“Through the Brocade Network Visibility product family, Brocade is now empowering mobile network operators to optimize their visibility and analytics environments in ways they were unable to before,” Brocade senior director for A/NZ, Gary Denman, said.

“The network visibility approach we deliver alleviates the challenges of operating a diverse visibility environment, and brings a software-enabled infrastructure and open architecture to the forefront of mobile operator visibility networks.”

Brocade added, with its open and software-centric architecture, the company can redefine visibility infrastructures found in mobile packet cores today. Brocade said it can enable mobile operators to move to an agile infrastructure that can support the data growth and capacity demands of 4G/LTE and future 5G mobile networks.
