Converged data platform provider, MapR Technologies, has inked an education partnership with Servian to provide in-person and online Hadoop and Spark training course for professionals in A/NZ.
The joint venture looks to support the demand for Big Data expertise.
MapR Technologies A/NZ manager, Justin Brock, said, “we’ve identified the skills shortage as one of the biggest barriers for Big Data adoption globally, which is why we launched our free Hadoop On-Demand Training (ODT) program earlier in 2015, and followed up with the launch of an Apache Spark Essentials module later in October.”
“We currently have more than 50,000 professionals enrolled worldwide and for the A/NZ market, we wanted to take our program a step further. Thanks to Servian, we are able to design a program that addresses local market needs with in-person training,” Brock continued.
Servian general manager Victoria, Vivek Pradhan, said the company noticed the increase of data-centric organisations was driving demand for training, but there weren’t many local class options to learn Hadoop skills.
“Training is often a key step in Big Data adoption for customers, which is why we found the MapR education partnership project particularly compelling,” he added.
