Citrix Systems streamlines business for Porter Davis

Adopts activity-based-working model built on Citrix technology

Victoria-based builder, Porter Davis, has streamlined its six regional offices into one central location through an activity-based-working model built on Citrix Systems’ technology.

The company decided on Citrix Systems’ technology as it was faced with the prospect of relocating 500 employees from across Victoria and needed a solution mitigating the potential business impact this could create.

It also needed to ensure continued productivity by empowering employees to work remotely and securely access corporate data regardless of location and device.

Additionally, ahead of its transition to the activity-based-working model, Porter Davis wanted to reduce its carbon footprint and adopt a “paper light” strategy, helping boost productivity in-house and decrease associated overheads.

Porter Davis group IT manager, Warren Arbaitman, said creating the right digital environment was critical to the success of Porter Davis’ transition to an activity-based-working model.

“We were fully aware of the range of challenges we might face along our journey, so were focused on delivering a platform assuring employee concerns and allowing us to work like business as usual through the change and into the future,” he said.

As a result, he mentioned that using Citrix XenDesktop and Citrix XenApp has enabled it to dissolve the concept of fixed desks and deploy a virtual environment providing its workforce with secure and seamless access to the corporate network from outside traditional office boundaries.

As part of the transition, Porter Davis provided employees with devices allowing them to work remotely or during the daily commute, including laptops, tablet computers and smartphones.

In addition, to deliver on its green initiatives, Porter Davis eliminated paper-based customer communications by deploying file sync and sharing solution Citrix ShareFile, and the electronic signature platform Citrix RightSignature.

“Through the Citrix technology deployed, we have been able to boost employee productivity and retention. The project has fundamentally changed the way we operate as a business for the better, and we’re incredibly satisfied with the results,” Arbaitman said.

Citrix A/NZ director of technical services, Safi Obeidullah, mentioned the challenges faced by Porter Davis are common among many Australian businesses today – achieving more with less, and accommodating a new way of work.

“It has been great to see the company’s digital environment deliver immediate results. But what’s even more exciting is that as millennials increasingly enter the workforce demanding to work remotely and across locations, Porter Davis is well set to accommodate this to ensure the company can attract the best talent,” Obeidullah said.
