Brisbane-based iseek Communications has launched a new cloud-based Backup-as-a-Service to provide a more cost-effective backup solution for its government and enterprise clients.

The company offers Cloud, Datacentre and connectivity solutions and the new offering enhances iseek’s existing Cloud service by adding disaster recovery capabilities to its existing customers running Veeam.

The company also operates two datacentres in Brisbane and one in Sydney, servicing enterprise and government customers which it uses to backup customer data and offer Cloud services.

The company’s head of sales and marketing, Scott Castles, told ARN iseek had approached its customer base, many of whom were requesting such a service.

“A lot of customers are having capacity or storage challenges,” he said.

“They are looking for simplification of management of backup solutions and the ability to move away from tape to a fixed storage solution that they know and trust.”

Castles said iseek’s datacentres “tick all those boxes” as it operates local datacentres which allow data to stay local, a concern for many of iseek Communications’ customers.

Backups take place over an SSL-encrypted connection and cloud gateway, negating the need to download large backup files.

“It removes the added stress of having to physically maintain the environment, giving customers the peace of mind that their critical business information is safe and secure,” said iseek COO, Ian Porter.

“Our new cloud backup solution provides an end-to-end service, offering on-premises backup enabled by Veeam, and off-site backup and managed services provided by iseek Communications.

“Regardless of size or complexity, we want to be able deliver a flexible and functional solution for businesses, with the ability to rectify an issue or disaster in record time, whenever it might arise.”
