Software provider, Progress, has taken on Trevor Rogers as its new director of partner and alliance for Australia and New Zealand – a role in which he plans to help even up the playing field for the company’s local partners.

“I’m a very strong evangelist for the partners, and I’ve always been fighting to make sure we get the right support behind the community,” Rogers told ARN.

“I’ve seen over the years that it can be a one-sided approach, where the vendor’s asking for everything, but what’s the partner getting from it?

“So, what I like to develop is a win-win relationship where…we have metrics in place that measure the vendor as well [the partners],” he said.

“This way we can nurture the health of the relationship. It’s like a marriage. You’re committing and you’re delivering on that, and you’re working to improve it all the time. That’s really important.”

In his new role, Rogers will provide senior leadership and direction across the Progress channel partner and alliance division in the local market, assuming responsibility for driving channel sales and growth across the company’s entire portfolio in the region.

Reporting to Progress managing director for Australia and New Zealand, Craig Law, Rogers will focus on growing the Progress A/NZ channel and partner network as the company works to expand its presence in the local market.

Rogers comes to the new role from CA Technologies, where he was partner director for the local market and, before that, national channel and alliance manager for Oracle.

While Rogers stresses that Progress is already in the habit of being supportive of its partners, he intends to use his new position as a way to reinforce the strengths of the company’s existing partners, and make sure they grow their business in the local market.

“We do have a strong partner program, but we’re localising that as well. We need to make sure we’re delivering on the needs of the local partners,” he said.

“Progress has been very supportive of some of the ideas and suggestions that I’m coming out with. They want it to be a healthy relationship, and they’ve brought me on for my experience working with partners."

For Craig Law, managing director of Progress A/NZ, having Rogers on board represents a chance to boost its local partner community.

“The appointment of Trevor is a great coup for the Progress channel and partner development efforts in the region,” Law said.

“Our company will benefit from Trevor’s proven success in all aspects of the partner ecosystem, from strategic alliances including local, global and regional SI partners, through to solution providers, service providers, resellers, distributors and ISV partners.

“Trevor’s role is testament to our commitment to partner with Australian and New Zealand businesses during a time of enormous change to provide end customers with the tools necessary to navigating this new digital environment,” he said.
