Ajilon nabs $3.4 million WA Department of Training and Workforce Development contract

Deal designed to fuel change management agenda

The Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) in Western Australia has selected consulting and IT services provider, Ajilon, to look into its change management agenda.

The engagement is estimated to be in excess of $3.4 million of the total contract value, based on figures projected in the initial request for the proposal, with Ajilon securing the two-year project following a competitive pitch process conducted via the WA government.

The latest partnership with DTWD follows Ajilon’s recent wins in the Australian education market, including a multi-year contract secured with the WA Department of Education, as well as a project management deal with the Department of Education Services.

According to Ajilon sales and solutions general manager, Charandeep Chhabra, the partnership follows ongoing reforms in WA’s TAFE sector and increased scrutiny over the delivery of a new student management system under the government’s Student Business Process Reform Project (SBPRP).

SBPRP is designed to replace a suite of bespoke systems that collectively meet some of the current student management requirements of the training sector.

According to Chhabra, the aim of the reform is to deliver an off-the-shelf system that caters to new and emerging needs of the industry, with as little customisation as possible.

Ajilon was appointed based on its track record in field of project and change management, the team’s robust expertise, and its organisational capacity.

“To ensure the successful deployment of the new system, DTWD sought an experienced project and change management partner," Chhabra said.

“This is an exciting opportunity, and further strengthens Ajilon’s footprint in the education sector. We are pleased to have proven our capabilities in the project and change management space, and look forward to working closely with DTWD on the successful delivery of the SBPRP."

Chhabra also said Ajilon is committed to supporting organisations in their digital transformation journey so they can "effectively thrive" in today’s innovation-led economy.

“As the education sector continues to adapt to new technologies and undergo rapid reforms, it is vital to ensure a smooth transition from legacy systems so critical data and know-how isn’t lost along the way,” he added.

The win comes just weeks after Ajilon announced it had secured a major contract with one of WA’s largest private residential developers, Satterley Property Group, to provide centralised support for the company’s applications environment.

Initially spanning three years, the partnership will enable Satterley to focus on key business priorities and revenue driving opportunities.

Ajilon will be responsible for providing ongoing support and development of software applications for the land developer.

“Our strong experience in Microsoft and robust track record puts us in an excellent position to support Satterley’s Microsoft stack, which includes Dynamics CRM, SharePoint, SQL Server and .Net applications, ClickDimensions and K2,” Chhabra said at the time.
