Former Ricoh Australia managing director, John Hall
Ricoh Australia managing director, John Hall, has stepped down from his role after heading up the company's local operations for the better part of the past three years.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed the move with ARN, saying that Hall has retired after 19 years in the local tech industry, and no longer fills the top job in the local market.
Ricoh said a search for Hall’s successor is underway and, in the interim, the print vendor turned IT services provider’s Asia-Pacific managing director, Kazuhisa Goto, will oversee the Australian business with the "full support of the Australian executive team”.
“In the past three years as managing director, John and his team have made significant contributions towards transforming and aligning the Australian business,” the company said, in a statement.
"John has seen the business through a critical stage of Ricoh’s transformation and leaves the business ready for the next phase of growth."
The move follows the announcement in October last year that Ricoh cut an undisclosed number of jobs from its Australian workforce in a move that has seen the company say goodbye to at least six people from its IT services business ranks, according to sources who spoke to ARN at that time.
ARN’s sources said at the time that Ricoh Australia told staff that the redundancies were a result of a “business decision to ensure the ongoing health of the company”, and that it “held out on making the cuts as long as it could despite tough market conditions”.
Hall was the managing director for Ricoh Australia for almost three years. He was hired by the company in May 2014.
He has also been the managing director of technology and services company, Lanier, where he worked for almost 16 years.
Prior his role with Lanier, Hall served at Ferntree Computer Corporation, as its general manager of financial services for more than two years.
