Tony Smith - Aruba managing director, South Pacific (A/NZ)
Hewlett Packard Enterprise subsidiary, Aruba, has named Anthony Smith as South-Pacific General Manager, to lead the local business following the departure of Steve Coad.
Aruba said Coad is leaving the company “to support a number of personal business initiatives.”
Coad ran the local Aruba business since 2012 and shepherded the local organisation through its acquisition by HPE in 2015.
As reported by ARN, Smith vacated his previous role as director of HPE Server Business Unit on 31 October 2016.
At the tech giant, Smith managed the division responsible for providing rack, tower and blade servers, including integrated systems and software-defined offerings.
Smith also previously held senior management and leadership roles at IBM and Lenovo and more recently an SAP focused consulting role at the Department of Defence.

“Anthony has a strong track record working with a number of successful technology businesses and his recent work at HPE has provided him with a more holistic understanding of how Aruba’s solutions complement the broader HPE offering.
“We’re confident in his ability to lead, encourage, and collaborate with the local Aruba team to drive the business to further success in the region."
In the Melbourne-based role, Smith will be charged with driving sales and growing Aruba’s channel partnerships throughout Australia and New Zealand.
The company said he will work closely with its sales managers to ensure the region is set up for further success. Smith will also be responsible for fostering the local growth of the business’ successful Airheads community.
“Since its acquisition by HPE in 2015, Aruba has maintained a strong reputation in the industry for delivering world-class enterprise mobility solutions and I’m excited to lead the team locally in the A/NZ region,” Smith said.
