Microsoft Dynamics integrator, Sable37, has acquired a 50 per cent stake in payroll and HR processing software provider, Payfields.
The deal allows Victoria-based Sable37 to resell the Payfields product under a new brand, Xalari (pronounced salary), as well as offer the software to its own customer base in Australia, New Zealand, India, and the Middle East.
Payfields developed a payroll software which integrates with Microsoft Dynamics 365, and is designed to run in multiple countries with different payroll compliance requirements.
The company already offers other bespoke applications for the Microsoft Dynamics platform under its Icon365 brand including: Inbound transport management; product lifecycle management; enterprise credit management; and rebates and reductions.
Sable37 global managing director, Martin Wildsmith, told ARN that the lack of a Microsoft payroll solution outside of North America resulted in a huge opportunity for ISVs working in the Microsoft cloud ecosystem.
“We see huge opportunities to migrate customers to Dynamics 365,” he said. “A number of competitors have been quite slow to take that up, we have been very aggressive and we see huge opportunities to upgrade customers to get them to the cloud and off their on-premise infrastructure."
Wildsmith said that the company is keen to increase its portfolio beyond Microsoft software in the cloud, and instead move to offerings that enhance the generic fare from Microsoft.
“Our role as a partner going forward is to have IP and business solutions and to offer more than just generic Microsoft software, otherwise we are down to a price game," Wildsmith said.
“In the long run, partners need to be thinking about that and becoming relevant. A partner needs to become world class at something and be globally recognised, not just local," he said.
For Wildsmith, it is important for the company to have solutions that function globally. This need is met by Xalari, which is fundamentally a payroll platform, but a single payroll that runs in nine different Asian countries, and is compliant from one system.
“That is something the traditional payroll vendors still struggle with. They don’t have that design or global thinking,” he said.
In addition, Sable37 has deployed the solution internally and this has allowed it to move from from separate payroll systems to one. The company said the PayFields software was designed from the ground up on Microsoft Dynamics 365, and integrates seamlessly with the business whatever the location.
