Tech sellers continue to top NSW complaints tally

Harvey Norman and Apple continue to be ranked in the top 10

Technology sellers, Harvey Norman and Apple, have continued to top the NSW Fair Trading monthly consumer complaints register, with the two companies coming in second and third, respectively, in the latest tally.

NSW Fair Trading has released its complaints list for the month of April, ranking the top 24 most complained about companies in the state, as calculated by the number of consumer complaints it received during the month.

Topping the list is real estate brand, Ray White. Harvey Norman and Apple were next in line, with 23 and 22 consumer complaints during the month, respectively.

According to NSW Fair Trading, only Apple and Harvey Norman have appeared on every register since it was launched in July 2016, while fellow tech retailer, The Good Guys, has missed just one.

Also in the top 24 most complained about companies in April was LG Electronics, coming in eighth, with 13 complaints, Dell Australia, with 11 complaints, JB Hi-Fi with 11 complaints and Telstra, also with 11 complaints.

Meanwhile, technology and home goods retailer, The Good Guys, came in with just 10 complaints for the month – a fall from the company’s March ranking, which saw it included in the top 10.

NSW Fair Trading noted that April saw the list of companies in Australia with 10 or more complaints against their names fall to just 24, a considerable drop from the 36 companies listed in March’s tally.

In that tally, Harvey Norman topped the list, with 43 complaints, more than double the average number of complaints per business recorded for March. Clearly, the company saw far fewer complaints in April.

Apple, The Good Guys, Telstra and Android Enjoyed dominating the top 10 most complained about businesses in the state for the month of March.

Further down the March complaints list, but still appearing among the top 40 most complained about businesses in NSW during March were Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics.

Samsung Electronics does not appear at all on NSW Fair Trading’s April list.
