Dicker Data (ASX:DDR) has launched an Enterprise Data Business unit to focus on digital transformation and the internet of things (IoT), in a move set to bring about an opportunity for resellers in the mid-market and enterprise sectors.

The new division is expected give partners pre-integrated, end-to-end solutions that simplify complex IT sales cycles while at the same time delivering faster data management solutions, according to the Aussie distributor.

Backing up this strategy, is a distribution agreement with Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) Australia. Dicker Data’s partners will have access to HDS’s offerings including infrastructure, content, cloud, IoT and analytics.

“We’re pleased to be announcing our new partnership with Hitachi Data Systems. This move further strengthens our portfolio and will provide our mid-market and enterprise customers with yet another alternative solution set,” Dicker Data chairman and CEO, David Dicker, said.

“We are also aligning our transformation journeys with the needs and priorities of our reseller partners. Our Enterprise Data Business Unit is designed to offer unprecedented opportunities for partners to capitalise on the growing digital transformation market and lead with innovative solutions for the internet of things.”

The partnership with HDS has been in effect since the beginning of July.

“Today, organisations across the globe are embracing digital transformation and IoT in order to accelerate innovation, improve efficiencies, extend competitive advantages, and increase mobility and business agility," HDS Australia and new Zealand industry and alliances solutions director, Phil Teague, said.

"As such, enterprises want trusted partners who can help them navigate this journey and achieve their desired business outcomes.

“With a shared vision and strategy to simplify and accelerate the digital transformation and IoT journey for customers across Australia, HDS and Dicker Data can be those partners,” Teague added.

Dicker Data recently signed an agreement with Pure Storage to strengthen its storage portfolio. The partnership gave Dicker Data access to the vendor’s entire portfolio.

The announcement came shortly after Dicker Data signed with Dell EMC, which also gave the distributor access to the vendors’ entire storage range.
