Samsung Electronics, Harvey Norman and Apple were among the most complained about brands in NSW during September, according to the latest tally by NSW Fair Trading.
The NSW Fair Trading Complaints Register lists businesses that are the subject of 10 or more complaints to NSW Fair Trading in a calendar month. Businesses are listed according to their public and recognisable trading name.
Topping the list for the second month in a row was online ticket seller, Viagogo, which was the subject of 36 complaints received by NSW Fair Trading during September.
Coming in equal second was Samsung Electronics, which had 20 complaints registered against its name, while Apple took out seventh position, with 16 complaints.
Further down the list for September was electronics and homewares retailer, The Good Guys, with 11 complaints and online electronics retailer, Kogan, with 10 complaints.
For the month of August, Apple was the subject of 24 complaints, putting the tech powerhouse in fourth place for the month, while Samsung Electronics came in at a distant 11th, being the subject of 14 complaints during the month.
“I will always put consumers first in this state by warning them about dodgy traders, and bringing in new legislation that ensures they’re getting a fair go in the marketplace,” NSW Minister for Better Regulation, Matt Kean, said,
“We’re putting consumers first, and empowering them so they can make the most informed choice about where to take their business.”
A total of 19 businesses featured in the latest Register, receiving 294 complaints between them.
