Cirrus Networks (ASX:CNW) has been handed a three-year managed service contract aimed at supporting the merger of three care providers in Western Australia (WA).
The contract, which was awarded by newly-formed Perth-based not-for-profit care provider, Chorus, sees Cirrus deliver an infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) solution with a primary focus on ensuring a cost effective approach to the company’s IT budget.
Cirrus Networks has also been tasked with helping to merge the IT systems of the three entities that merged earlier this year to become Chorus; Care Options, Volunteer Task Force and Community First International.
As a combined entity, Chorus provides aged care, disability, mental health and support services in the WA market, the same region, incidentally, that houses Cirrus Networks’ headquarters.
“We at Chorus are looking forward to partnering with a fellow Western Australian-based organisation as we take a fresh approach to community service,´ Chorus CEO, Dan Minchin, said. “Cirrus ticked all the boxes during our highly competitive selection process.”
The project will include the removal of duplication for the company and the elimination of unnecessary spend and asset consolidation. It will also see Chorus leveraging the existing Cirrus cloud infrastructure technology and IT service management (ITSM) framework to create an IT environment for the new Chorus combined business.
According to Cirrus Group CEO, Matt Sullivan, the contract win – which followed a public tender process – comes after long relationship between his company and one of the three care providers that have come together to form Chorus.
“We have been working with Community First International for the last three years and we are thrilled to be chosen to join Chorus with them,” Sullivan said. “Delivery of the new core Chorus platforms and merging legacy infrastructure are short term goals, the Cirrus/Chorus partnership will be to deliver cost effective, innovative solutions that enable the Chorus business for many years to come.”
The contract win comes roughly a month after the publicly-listed technology services provider secured two integration projects with “leading organisations” in the resources and education sectors.
For the first contract, worth $2.1 million, Cirrus took advantage of its expertise with Cisco and Pure Storage for a next generation network solution and reference architecture.
The second contract, worth $1 million, is for a hyper converged compute solution that will be implemented in the customer’s research data centre.
In early November, Cirrus Networks struck a deal to acquire Canberra-based systems integrator, Correct Communications, in a share purchase agreement set to be worth up to $5 million.
The acquisition of the IT services provider is expected to give Cirrus a full service IT services and managed services offering in Canberra, and a new impetus to push into the lucrative public sector market.
