Data#3 wins $3.7M network solutions deal with the AFP

As part of a larger programme to deliver transformative capabilities in technology, information and personnel safety and security

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has awarded a $3.7 million contract for Data#3 (ASX:DTL) for the delivery of network solutions.

The contract is for a three-year period, and was initiated on 19 January.

As part of the contract, the Brisbane-based business will provide software defined (network) access design, operations architecture and design, network security architecture and segmentation design, implementation of a pre-defined pilot, and operationalisation of the solution.

According to an AFP spokesperson, the solution is anticipated to largely re-purpose existing hardware and software assets owned by and licensed to the AFP, while also including an additional contracted software component involving Cisco's Identity Services Engine.

A spokesperson told ARN that the deal is part of a larger programme of work to deliver "transformative capabilities" to the AFP, in technology, information and personnel safety and security.

The AFP engaged Data#3 under the Information and Communication Technology Services, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS), Software and Hardware Panel arrangement.

The panel currently counts on 40 suppliers including ASG, ASI Solutions, Datacom, Dell, Dimension Data, DXC Connect and Telstra among others.

In January, Data#3 won a deal to deliver a new whole-of-government collaboration service replacing the Department of Finance’s existing Govdex file sharing and collaboration platform.

The deal, worth just over $656,000 over six months, sees the publicly-listed integrator replace the existing system with a software-as-a-service solution delivered via public cloud using Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Azure.

The company published its financial report for the six months ending December earlier this week which revealed net profit after tax (NPAT) by more than 50 per cent, to $2.7 million, with the Aussie integrator citing customer delays and supplier delivery constraints as contributing factors.

Data#3’s total first half revenue increased by 8.2 per cent to $547.3 million, with increases in both product and services revenues, while its combined cloud-based revenues grew strongly to $86.1 million.
