ActiveImage APAC vice president, Richard Giddey
Disk imaging backup, system disaster recovery and virtualisation software vendor ActiveImage has made its way to Australia, with StorageCraft's Richard Giddey leading the charge.
Giddey was the former StorageCraft APAC vice-president and was a co-partner with fellow IT industry veteran, Greg Wyman, who were both involved in a venture to bring StorageCraft into the Australian and New Zealand marketplace that escalated from zero to more than 5,000 partners during the 10 years he spent with the company.
Giddey amicably parted ways with Wyman and now has a new venture in his sights in the form of ActiveImage, where he is taking on the role as the vendor’s Asia Pacific vice president.
On top of his StorageCraft venture, Giddey had also spent about six years with tape storage vendor, Exabyte, as its Asia Pacific director.
Giddey is behind setting up ActiveImage’s Australian office, based in North Sydney and is already in the final stages of negotiating its first local distribution agreement.
"We are also recruiting local managed service providers (MSPs), with the first to be announced shortly. Currently, we have four large MSPs running proof of concepts," Giddey said.
ActiveImage is the product name for privately held Japanese company, NetJapan that develops, markets and supports ActiveImage Protector, vStandby, ImageBoot and ImageCentre product lines.
