Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand has launched its Protected Cloud software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution for government agencies, through a new partnership with Vault Systems.
The Fujitsu Protected Cloud portfolio was built on Vault Systems' Australian Signals Directorate (ASD)-certified protected infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS). Fujitsu is the only Vault partner that is offering a virtual desktop on the protected cloud at the moment.
Vault Systems and Sliced Tech were awarded the certification in March 2017 as the first providers to achieve the 'protected' level at the time, giving them the ability to handle classified and highly sensitive government data.
The solution includes IaaS, backup-as-a-service (BaaS) and government desktop-as-a-service (GovDaaS).

"The Fujitsu Protected Cloud solution addresses those security concerns and delivers increased workforce adaptability and mobility."
The Fujitsu Protected IaaS is a community cloud service that delivers rapid access to server, storage, and network capacity as a service.
Specifically, the BaaS solution provides a managed cloud-based back-up and recovery service offering flexible, efficient, and secure back-up and recovery, available on demand.
GovDaaS centralises and secures any government desktop environment into the cloud. Fujitsu claims this is the first time virtual desktop infrastructure is being delivered on an Australian-certified protected cloud in a truly elastic as-a-service model.

In April, Vault Systems launched a new training facility in Canberra set to upskill around 3,000 public sector IT workers
Dubbed Vault Academy, the training facility is aimed at addressing a growing shortage of cloud computing skills across Government, and targets end-users, such as software developers, infrastructure engineers, cloud architects, sales engineers and technical project leaders.
