Rural and regional telecommunications carrier Field Solutions Group (FSG) is boosting its presence in New South Wales (NSW) with the construction of new infrastructure in the region.
FSG will deploy both fixed wireless (FW) and the telco's rural reach network solutions to Weemalah and Mungindi townships and also surrounding rural communities.
The telco will provide network coverage via eight regional points of presence, with the project to be partially funded by the company and partially by the community.
Construction is expected to take between three and nine months.
"FSG, supported by Moree Plains Shire Council and leading Agribusinesses in our Northern NSW corridor, is delighted to commence construction activities in the Weemalah-Mungindi region," FSG CEO Andrew Roberts said.
"We have developed a community driven approach to our network rollout and continued expansion."
FSG will be adding fibre optic and wireless nodes to its existing network, enabling the delivery of a symmetric broadband services for business and agribusiness; and a series of residential plans via its JustISP retail arm.
“The push North West from Moree has been purely demand driven, allowing us to deliver services to areas current only receiving NBN SkyMuster," Roberts added.
In May, FSG announced a similar plan to build an infrastructure that will offer both fixed wireless and rural reach network solutions to the Blackall and Tambo townships.
That contract is worth around $850,000 of revenue over three years and sees FSG design, construct and maintain a series of communications towers across the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council area.
“For too long satellite services were all we could access, this project delivers what ratepayers and businesses have been demanding,” Blackall-Tambo Regional Council Mayor Andrew Martin said at the time.
Furthermore, FSG announced the deployment of its first non-National Broadband Network (NBN) fibre-to-the-premises (FttP) and fixed wireless solution in rural Australia in June 2017, with Moree, NSW, claiming the new infrastructure.
The move made Moree home to FSG's third regional network deployment, with the company previously having a focus on rural and regional network infrastructure.
Now, the company supports services either directly or as a wholesale provider into 17 local government areas across Australia.
FSG made moves earlier this year to raise just over $1.1 million to acquire the assets of South Western Wireless, which went into administration in early March.
