Angus Dorney has vacated his position as senior director and general manager of Rackspace across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) to take on the CEO position at Australian cloud engineering specialist Kablamo.
According to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) partner, Dorney's appointment is the result of a partnership between him and Kablamo's founder Allan Waddell.
"Allan is one of Australia’s leading cloud visionaries," Dorney said. "He has built the Kablamo team – one of exceptional talent and integrity – into a unique and powerful cloud application partner."
Having been with Rackspace since April 2013, Dorney previously worked at Electronic Data Systems for more than four years where he was last IT operations and strategy consultant, before joining food and beverage UK company Tate & Lyle.
In October 2008 he joined Blue Star Group holding top management positions. Prior to joining Rackspace in 2013, he was Blue Star Group's general manager for NSW and Queensland.
"Angus has years of local and global IT vendor experience," Waddell added. "He understands how to rapidly scale and how to turn ideas into rock solid products and services.
"He brings operational and strategic brilliance to Kablamo – the fact he’s a great bloke is a bonus."
Kablamo offers an “on site” delivery model which facilitates customer education so the solution can be ‘owned’ by the client organisation after implementation.
"We are still in the infancy of cloud," Dorney added. "We see a huge opportunity to disrupt the major enterprise IT service providers who have been using outdated delivery models, such as cheap, outsourced labour, to drive poor outcomes for their customers.
