Gearing up for an expansion into international markets, China’s largest PC maker, Legend, has adopted a new brand name, Lenovo, for its IT hardware, including personal computers, and mobile phones.
While the new brand name will appear on the company’s computing products, its corporate name will remain unchanged.
Legend executives decided to make the switch to the Lenovo brand since Legend had already been registered as a brand in many countries.
The company, which does the majority of its business in China, needed a brand name that could be registered in international markets to support its expansion plans overseas.
The company’s Chinese brand name, Lianxiang, will remain unchanged.
The Lenovo brand will appear on all products manufactured after April 29. The company expects to complete the transition to the new brand name within a year.
Legend’s motherboard products will continue to be sold under the QDI brand.
