Telstra to cut 800 jobs

The company will be removing 800 positions across the back-end of Telstra's operations. The bulk of the cuts will come from senior and middle management, and their support staff.

Telstra intends to shed over 800 jobs as part of a streamlining process.

According to Telstra the streamlining is an attempt to reduce duplication and bureaucracy across the company's various divisions.

The affected jobs will mainly be senior and middle management positions, as well as their support staff.

The business, consumer & channels, strategic marketing, product management, BigPond and Country Wide divisions will all be affected by the streamlining.

According to Telstra, no customer-facing roles will be affected.
