Bluechip Infotech has brought on a range of new power protection products from US-based vendor, CyberPower Systems.
Bluechip is CyberPower’s first Australian distributor and will have sole wholesale access for an undefined period of time. It will carry CyberPower’s power distribution units, UPS, power management software, surge suppressors and accessories. All products are backed by the vendor’s ISO 9001 certification, are Reduction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant and come bundled with management software. They also feature CyberPower’s GreenUPS technology.
Bluechip sales and marketing manager, Wesley Wong, said the power products were targeted at the retail market, value-conscious users, SoHO and SMB. CyberPower’s UPS devices, for example, start from $99.
Wong said CyberPower’s retail focus complemented, rather than conflicted, with Bluechip’s existing UPS vendor partner, Eaton Powerware. The distributor is planning to target its existing dealer and value-added reseller base, along with mass merchants such as Officeworks and Harris Technology.
“CyberPower is driving more into that value segment of the market,” Wong said.
All products will be supported by advanced warranty replacement from warranty and services support provider, Dingo Technologies. The units also come with a $25,000 equipment protection guarantee from CyberPower.
CyberPower general manager for A/NZ, Brad Andrews, said it started negotiations with Bluechip at the Computex event in Taiwan. He highlighted the distributor’s proactive sales team, niche and unique product portfolio as key reasons for its choice.
“At this stage, Bluechip will be our exclusive distributor in Australia – in the longer term, we will have to evaluate how that goes in the market,” Andrews said. CyberPower is also hoping to establish an office and hire additional staff locally next year.
