Distributor ramps up staff across all business units and is on track to achieve at least 30 per cent growth this financial year

Distribution Central has added 33 new staff across its business units during the current financial year.

It has boosted its in-house development team responsible for building its iAsset, StormFront, DC Control and online configuration tools.

Distribution Central has also doubled its certified trainers within its Red Education business unit, which now supports 11 vendors such as Aruba Networks, Blue Coat, Clearswift, Crossbeam, Extreme Networks, Fortinet, F5 Networks, InfoAware, Infoblox, NET and Riverbed.

Distribution Central sales and marketing director, Nick Verykios, said it had experienced exponential growth across its business units.

“Despite the global financial crisis and market slow down, we’re continuing to invest in skills,” Verykios said. “We’ve made a lot of investment in engineering and technical services particularly in the Red Education area.

“With a lot of the emerging technologies that we’re doing, there isn’t a lot of channel expertise so resellers lean on us to help them support a lot of the technology till they get to the point where they are skilled up themselves.”

It has also ramped up account management and technical sales staff across its business units including: Firewall Systems, NetWorld Systems, SAN Systems, Unity Systems, Annuity Systems and Red Education.

Distribution Central has more than 90 staff in its business units. It still has nine vacancies across various roles.

Verykios said good talent was hard to find in a competitive market, but the advantage of the downturn meant that not many companies were hiring.

The distributor was on track to achieve a minimum of 30 per cent growth this financial year, he said.

“Some business units are looking at double-digit growth like NetWorld and Unity Systems,” Verykios said.

For the next financial year, it has deliberate strategy in place to go after particular vendors to add to their portfolio, he said.

“We’ve got some in mind and we’re hoping to be successful,” he said. “That will bring in new opportunities for us.”
