ME Bank has launched a workplace banking kiosk at Telstra’s contact centre in Melbourne’s CBD.
The workplace banking kiosk is a five metre-square miniature ‘high-tech’ bank branch, which operates on an employer’s worksite. It includes a video phone to access ME Bank’s call centre, a private office space for meetings with a banker, an ATM, and access to Internet banking.
According to ME Bank, this is the first such technology in Australia.
In addition to hosting the first kiosk, Telstra has worked with ME Bank to develop the video conferencing technology powering it.
ME Bank sales group executive, Ian Hendey, said, “ME Bank is taking banking to the customer, rather than making them come to us. The Kiosks combine face-to-face and digital banking and address the difficulty many people have finding time to go to their bank,” he said.
Hendey claimed the kiosks were quick to build and easy to deploy.
“Employers we are speaking to want workplace banking. It’s a benefit they can offer their employees and a way to build their reputation as an ‘employer of choice’.”
ME Bank said, in a statement, that it is starting to offer kiosks to larger employers that have launched workplace banking at their worksites. The bank already provides its workplace banking service at more than 55 worksites across Australia.
