Telstra has today announced a partnership with Sydney's ANZ Stadium, which will see the telco provide wireless connectivity to the sporting and events venue for the next five years.

The deal sees Australia's number one telco become the exclusive technology partner for Wi-Fi and content distribution at ANZ Stadium.

Telstra says the first stage of the rollout will connect sponsor content to Wi-Fi devices throughout the venue, effectively allowing information, announcements and video content to be displayed to spectators.

Telstra's Enterprise & Government Media Practice Lead, Kathy-Anne McManus, said the partnership will create a new experience for ANZ spectators.

"This technology will further enhance ANZ Stadium’s reputation as one of the world’s great sports and entertainment venues."

"We’re proud to be introducing technology that will improve the customer experience when visiting ANZ Stadium, and ultimately allow fans to engage with IPTV and other online content."

Telstra says the Wi-Fi network at ANZ Stadium will be implemented "in the coming months".

It will be available to the public from the start of 2014 National Rugby League (NRL) season, which begins in March 2014.

ANZ Stadium was purpose built for the Sydney 2000 Olympic games and seats up to 83,500 spectators.
