Telstra launches 'business to business' Cloud video service

Service embedded for cloud collaboration customers who use Cisco, Polycom and TIPT

Telstra has launched a new business-to-business video service which gives Cloud customers access to high definition video communication.

Telstra's 'business to business' video will give Cloud collaboration customers access to high definition video calling capabilities that can be used between meeting rooms, on browsers, at a desk and on mobile devices across a range of products.

Business to business video is now embedded for Telstra’s Cloud collaboration customers who use Cisco, Polycom and TIPT for their voice and content sharing.

The move follows Telstra's partnership with Cisco to house the Californian networking giant's 'global intercloud' in its Australian datacentres.

Telstra global enterprise and services, executive director global products and solutions, Philip Jones, said the new capability would make it easier for customers to expand their video calling to a wider business community.

“For some time we’ve seen the power and growth of video applications among consumers," he said.

"But in business, technology barriers remain which can prevent organisations from using video outside of their own workforce.

He said the new capability removed many of the technological barriers, making video calling as easy as a standard phone call between meeting room, browser, desk phone and mobile devices.

“Telstra’s new business to business video solution will provide our cloud collaboration customers with video calling technology that is interoperable, easy to use and designed for business," he said.

"Organisations can leverage this as an enabler for future ways of working, fostering innovation and new models of business engagement with their global supply chain.”

He said the new capability added further value to Telstra's partnerships with video conference services providers, such as Blue Jeans Network, its cloud collaboration partnership with Cisco and other existing services such as room-based and desktop video solutions.
