Juniper Networks and Nike collaborate on Cloud

Shoe company to virtualise its datacentres using technology from networking vendor.

Juniper Networks and Nike will co-create a new datacentre Cloud and retail network infrastructure.

Juniper chief executive officer, Shaygan Kheradpir, said the aim of the partnership is to create secure network architecture that is also "ultra-scalable."

“Enterprises are re-engineering their business models in light of changing customer behavior and emerging technologies,” he said.

Kheradpir added a high performance network infrastructure that seamlessly adapts to business demands was needed for this transformation.

“It also requires building private clouds that deliver applications with high performance and agility,” he said.

Through the partnership, Nike will deploy Juniper’s MetaFabric, which will act as the foundation for virtualising the shoe company’s multiple datacentres worldwide.

Nike chief information officer, Anthony Watson, said the changes to its architecture are to support the company’s current and future business goals.

“This requires progressive and agile technology solutions that keep pace with our growth, which is what Juniper’s solutions offer,” he said.
