Woolworths Connect mobile plans start from $30

Data recharges from $14.90

Supermarket chain Woolworths will offer prepaid and broadband plans when it launches Woolworths Connect on June 15.

Prepaid recharges start from $30 and come with $650 worth of national call credit, unlimited text messaging and 1.5GB of data.

Heavier users can purchase a $45 recharge, which comes with $1500 of national call value, unlimited national SMS messaging and 3.5GB of data.

Members of Woolworths’ rewards program will receive a 10 per cent discount on recharges.

The supermarket giant is further incentivising customers to join by offering free national calls between the customers using its Woolworths Connect network.

Available broadband plans cost $14.90, $29.90 and $99.90 for 1.25GB, 3GB and 10GB of data respectively.

Woolworths announced it will re-enter the mobile space last month after forging a partnership with Telstra. It will offer 3G speeds using Telstra’s 850MHz and 2100MHz network.

Company representatives claim the network will have a peak speed of 7.2Mbps; however, practical download speeds will vary from 550kbps to 3Mbps.

Woolworths Connect will rival other mobile virtual network operators working with Telstra, including that offered by German supermarket chain Aldi Mobile.
