An evolution in structure, capabilities, and market approach has played a large part in helping Vita Enterprise Solutions walk away with Telstra’s prestigious Enterprise Partner of the Year award for 2016.
The award, which was announced at the telco’s Licensee and Partner Conference at the end of August in Queensland, recognises outstanding service and solutions provided to Telstra business and enterprise customers.
Other winners at the event included Wireless Communications, which won the Business Partner of the Year award for 2016; VExpress Distribution, which was awarded National Distribution Partner of the Year 2016; and Byte Information Technology, which was named National Specialist Partner of the Year 2016.
For Vita Enterprise Solutions general manager, Paul Edmondson, the award is validation for the company’s ongoing transformation strategy which, in July last year, saw it announce an increase in its focus on mobile managed solutions, collaboration, and cloud technology.
“For me, [the award] is an acknowledgement and recognition of how far we’ve been able to transform the business over the last 18 months or so,” Edmondson told ARN.
“Telstra’s very strongly focused on evolving from the telco brand that it has traditionally had in the market, to being a true technology company.
“We’ve aligned ourselves very closely to that and recognised it is certainly our future as much as Telstra’s,” he said.
According to Edmondson, the company has followed Telstra’s move away from its traditional telco roots to becoming more of a business solutions provider.
This alignment has seen Vita Enterprise Solutions – a division of Vita Group – evolve from being a traditional mobile dealer business to full technology services company.
“Coming from that traditional business structure, there were a lot of things we had to change,” Edmondson said. “First of all, we had to evolve the strategy and be very clear about what we wanted to be and how we were going to execute that strategy.
“Underpinning that is our structure, and we needed to evolve our structure, both from a geographical standpoint, but also from a capabilities standpoint," he said.
"So we defined the business very clearly into three core groups: the solutions area, sales, and the services business."
This evolution, and the company’s continued alignment with Telstra, has also seen Vita expand into new markets, with the company opening up offices in Sydney and expanding its reach in Victoria.
Edmondson puts much of this success down to the expansion of the company’s capabilities.
“What did we do differently? Instead of having a point approach to selling through that traditional mobile-based business to really looking at a whole-of-business play,” he said.
