Data#3 has completed a major infrastructure implementation at the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH) in Queensland, leveraging HP technologies as part of a wider digital transformation project.

Specifically, the IT solutions provider deployed more than 4,200 digital technology devices in partnership with HP, alongside a range of project management and governance services.

In addition, the Brisbane-based business was tasked with delivering professional services, imaging and asset tagging, change management and training for all hospital staff, and ongoing field services.

“We’re delighted to partner with HP and Queensland Health on this significant digital infrastructure project for the Sunshine Coast community,” Data#3 CEO and managing director Laurence Baynham said.

“The success of the project demonstrates Data#3’s expertise in the design and deployment of world-leading technologies, and reinforces our credentials in the healthcare sector.”

In March 2017, patient services commenced at SCUH in a phased approach, with the new facility providing a range of new and expanded health services.

Through leveraging Data#3 and HP technologies, the project was part of an overall strategy to help SCUH become a more digital and connected hospital.

From a technology standpoint, the specialist healthcare devices deployed will provide enhanced mobility and flexibility, giving hospital staff quicker access to critical information such as patient details, test results and reports.

Baynham said a significant contributor to the deployment was Data#3’s logistics management, integration, deployment and testing, with the provider required to implement precise logistical planning to keep the project on track.

“To our core, HP is a company formed through effective partnering,” HP Australia business manager of commercial channel Chris Hewlett added.

“It’s through this experience that we connect with Data#3 to offer our combined experience and solutions to the progressive Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

“Together, we have extensive knowhow of the healthcare system in Australia and its technology requirements, and the complexities of how a public entity can coexist with a private health system.

“HP’s technology is key to driving digitisation in Australia and enabling customers to be highly mobile while offering our leading security solutions to protect sensitive client data.”

SCUH is Queensland’s first public hospital delivered via a Public Private Partnership (PPP).

Exemplar Health, a consortium comprising Lendlease, Siemens, First State Super, Capella Capital and Spotless Facilities Services, designed, constructed, partially financed, commissioned and will maintain the hospital buildings (including car parks) and grounds for 25 years.
