The Federal Government’s Digital Transformation Agency (DTA) has unveiled 36 suppliers for the first category of its new hardware marketplace procurement panel, enterprise storage.
Among the suppliers chosen for the panel, are OEMs, resellers and services integrators, including Data#3, Dimension Data, OPC IT and Thomas Duryea Logicalis.
They will be able to sell direct attached storage, network attached storage, object-based storage, storage area networks, backup and restore solutions, storage consumables and ancillaries and storage-related professional services to government bodies.
These services can be bought outright, as a capability-as-a-service solution, or as a managed service providing support, maintenance and other services.
First announced last year, the Hardware Marketplace is aimed at simplifying the procurement process for government agencies looking to buy IT hardware, while making it easier for smaller suppliers to compete for government contracts.
Intended to replace a number of expired IT procurement panels, including the government's expiring ICT hardware panel, mobile panel, and commercial-off-the-shelf, the marketplace will serve as “an always open, one-stop shop”, the government said in an earlier statement.
“The new Hardware Marketplace and its enterprise storage category is our first step in delivering an ‘open often’, consolidated model for hardware,” said Anthony Vlasic, chief strategy officer at the DTA.
“It means new sellers can join regularly, and its flexibility means government can keep up with new technologies as they develop. As we add more categories, the Marketplace will become a go-to platform for both government buyers and businesses selling hardware to government.”
The next two categories to be announced will be for network cabling services and network equipment.
