Rodney Thorne has resigned as director of channel sales across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) at F5 Networks, exiting the vendor after over four years.

ARN can confirm that the channel expert handed in his notice earlier this week, with plans already underway to appoint a successor.

“Rodney Thorne has resigned from F5,” confirmed Jason Baden, regional vice president of F5 Networks, when speaking to ARN. “We thank Rod for all his efforts over his time at F5 and wish him all the best.”

Thorne joined F5 in July 2014, with a management focus on regional sales and channel growth, spanning commercial and partner markets on both sides of the Tasman.

Previously, Thorne was general manager of enterprise channels across A/NZ at Motorola for more than eight years, following a five-year stint as business manager at Ingram Micro.

“We will be conducting a search for his replacement and will share an update when we have additional news,” Baden added.

The departure comes seven months after Baden exited his role as country manager of Brocade across A/NZ to take up the leadership role of F5 locally.

Baden replaced Rob Malkin in the role, who vacated his position after almost two years.

Following the change, Baden has been tasked with leading the vendor’s operations across the local market, leveraging more than 15 years of experience across IT and telecommunications.
