Scale-out storage vendor, Isilon, has signed on two new channel partners to broaden its national reach.
The company has traditionally been strong in the entertainment media and biotech space. The new appointments fit well with the two categories.
Specialist system integrator, Future Reality, focuses on the film and television media industry while AGTC is a boutique consulting firm for IT and biotech services to research institutes.
Isilon also hopes to branch out to other sectors such as the gas and oil industry to entrench itself more in the Australian market through the help of additional partners.
The vendor has turned to a strong channel strategy in the US which has helped it achieve solid growth despite the pressure of the global financial crisis. It is looking to bring that channel focus to Australia as well.
Direct sales account for 90 per cent of local sales but the company wants to reduce that to 70-80 per cent. It only has a handful of partners in Australia at present.
Isilon is also on the hunt for distributors. It has already started talking to one candidate and has been introduced to a part of the distributor’s reseller base.
“A distributor’s start-up criterion will be related to how many channel partners they bring on,” Isilon sales director, Dave Demmocks, said.
Isilon also released the newest version of its OneFS scale-out storage operating system and two new data management software application. SmartPools lets users unify multiple Isilon storage tiers in a single file system and InsightIQ is the vendor’s new storage analytics application.
