Telstra and icare become first Aussie Salesforce customers to go live on AWS

The new partnership means Salesforce can quickly bring new infrastructure online

Telstra and icare have become the first Australian Salesforce customers to access the Salesforce Customer Success Platform in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Sydney region.

This comes as Australian customers will now have access to the Salesforce Customer Success Platform through AWS Cloud infrastructure.

The partnership was first revealed at the Salesforce World Tour in Sydney back in March and involves the Salesforce Customer Success Platform including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Salesforce Platform, Community Cloud, Analytics Cloud, Financial Services Cloud and more.

Telstra Enterprise group managing director, Martijn Blanken, said that Salesforce would play a key role in providing better face-to-face and digital services for its customers.

“Telstra Enterprise has partnered with Salesforce to help our team digitally transform the way we serve our enterprise and government customers,” Blanken said.

icare COO, Rob Craig, added that being able to access Salesforce on the AWS Sydney region means it can expand the ways in which it serves businesses, people and communities in NSW with its insurance and care services.

In a statement, Salesforce executive vice president of infrastructure engineering and CIO, Randy Kern, said its AWS partnership allows Salesforce to quickly and efficiently bring new infrastructure online.

Salesforce Asia Pacific executive vice president and general manager, Mark Innes, added that APAC was one of the fastest growing regions for Salesforce due to the growing shift to cloud and demand for digital transformation.

“With the availability of Salesforce on AWS in Australia, we’re poised to further accelerate innovation, business transformation and success for our customers and partners,” Innes said.

Last year Salesforce picked AWS as its preferred public cloud infrastructure provider, in a deal worth US$400 million over four years.

“The most innovative and successful Australian enterprises have been leveraging the combined capabilities of the AWS and Salesforce platforms to transform their businesses for many years," AWS A/NZ managing director, Paul Migliorini, said.

"The availability of Salesforce’s Customer Success Platform on the AWS Sydney Region is a very significant milestone that will help Australian customers to fully leverage the scale, security and reliability of the AWS Cloud."
